Pre-alpha is here!


Hello everyone! I am glad to share a second diary about “Buildest”. I will cover some information about the current status of a project and tell you about pre pre-alpha version.

We’ve prepared 3 levels and sandbox mode in this version. It lacks some game mechanics, but the current version still represents core gameplay. So if you are interested, you might give it a try. Please share your opinion and suggestions on it in the comments. 

Core gameplay

So first of all I want to explain the whole premise of the game. 


It goes like this, you start your journey far back in time in ancient Egypt and you have a very simple goal - you find out all secrets about the history of architecture. You will visit 8 different eras which represent various architectural styles from spectacular palaces of Ancient Greece to abstract skyscrapers of modern cities. On each level you will get a design of a specific  building. In order to successfully finish level you need to build it! Sounds easy, right? Answer is yes and no.

For those who are interested in relaxing meditative gameplay this game will be an excellent experience. The process of construction is very simple and satisfying:

  • Examine the design and find out what materials are needed for architectural element
  • Create and gather all necessary materials in order to craft an element
  • Give an order to workers to start building 
  • Watch them being busy and enjoy!

Throughout the game you will encounter various exotic architectural elements from elaborate Roman arcades to luxurious natural looking iron molded doors for the art nouveau era. All of them have unique handcrafted designs based on real historical prototypes.

But the most pleasurable thing (my humble opinion) is working with building materials. As you may know, in order to use clay on the construction site as a clay brick you need to perform a lot of actions. In this game we tried to make the process of developing the building material as enjoyable as it can be. 

Although if you want to challenge yourself we have something to offer for you too. We’ve developed a very flexible progress examination system, which lets casual players enjoy their time and challenge hardcore gamers at the same time. There are three parameters that represent your “score” for each level: 

  • Quality
  • Time
  • Money

If you want to build quicker, great! Game will give you a medal for it, I mean literally. If you want to save money for the future use, that is also plausible. But if you dare to secure each medal at the same time and be ready for a serious challenge. There are several gameplay features that you can manage in order to play it hardcore:

  • Workers placement
  • Order in which you craft elements 
  • Money booster management 
  • Etc.

Not everything that is mentioned above is working right now. Feedback on current version of the game will help us finish these features and polish them in the right way.
